A Blogger’s Event

Our Weekend Memoirs

If you read the post before this, it is entitled, I WAS THERE.  Yes, I was in Cagayan de Oro City to attend a very big blogger’s event.  I wish all of you were there with me because if you are here at OWM then it means you are also a blogger.  I want to dream big like there will be a WORLD BLOGGERS SUMMIT!  Where to be held? — cast lots!

Let me allow to share a few because next weekend it’s going to be my turn and i will also share MBS related photos.

These guys are first timers to the summit.  The upper photos showed with me are bloggers from the Zamboanga Peninsula.  I think two of them are from Zamboanga City and the other one is Dapitan.

The lower to the left is shown Alvin Ronnie Caballero and Francis Javier.  We were on the same table.  Both are new bloggers and they belong to CDO Bloggers.

With me on the right photo is Alvin Tan of Manila.  First time to the summit and first time to Mindanao.  I am sure he really had a great time in this trip.  Such a friendly guy.

You may check out Avel’s post about his 3 wins.

I had many photos but this is one of my favorite ones: – the chandelier at the meeting hall.

These were two big events, so, this week, I will alternately post MBS 3 related entrieshere in this blog and in my Midlifedancing blog.

I many photos to share and i hope i can share some here in my blog but possibly all in my Facebook account.

Today, we went on to a city tour and been to the interior of the places where i just passes by for all my adult years.  Good thing the trip went on fine.  We did not met any accidents or else we would be needed lawyers like New York accident lawyers. The city tour group was split in two and we enjoyed all the places we visited in spite the heat of the sun.

I discovered myself this afternoon that i got sunburned.  Good thing it was not so serious but there’s really a burn mark in my arms and on my chest.  According to Milo cleavage daw. lol!

This year’s MBS was hosted by the CDO Bloggers:

Each of them was called up the stage for a big applause from the participants.  :)

I also got some MBS 3 memorablia shots with MBS big people and these two are just the first few:

With Avel “Bariles” of Gensan Dot Com.  Gen San hosted the MBS  2 last year and that was spearheaded by him.  His blog won the best Mindanao travel blog in the Philippine Blog Awards.

PA240987

This is me with Blogie Robillo, the founder of Mindanao Bloggers Community.   He was also one of the awardee last night. His blog Ang Dabawenyo won a Globe Tatoo Tribe Award.

This is my second time to meet both these guys and i hope to meet them again next Summit.

Thanks Chito for making the correction.  Congratulations to your blog -  Davaobase Dot Com for being Mindanao Bloggers Choice and got the award.

CDO Bloggers Group Hosts Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3

::A Press Release::

The Cagayan de Oro Bloggers (CDO Bloggers) group is set to play host to the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which will be held on October 24, 2009. With the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw,” the MBS 3 aims to uphold the beauty and strength of the island and to expunge the negative notions the world has about it.

(Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, Philippines – October 21, 2009) – It’s all systems go for the Cagayan de Oro Bloggers (CDO Bloggers) as they play host to the much-awaited Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, an annual gathering of Mindanao-based bloggers, IT industry experts, community leaders and new media advocates, on October 24, 2009 at Pearlmont Inn, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City. Roughly 300 bloggers are expected to attend this year’s summit.

With the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw,” (Changing The Way People See Mindanao) the event aims to uphold the beauty and strength of Mindanao, to highlight the diverse cultures and fascinating tourist spots that are uniquely Mindanao and to provide a platform where bloggers and other new media practitioners can discuss concerns related to Mindanao – all with the help of new and emerging technologies.

“Mindanao is the home of everything fascinating or in bloggers’ lingo – bloggable. Through the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, it is the hope of the CDO Bloggers, along with our partners and generous sponsors, that we listen to knowledgeable resource persons, meet other Mindanaoan bloggers, share and maximize all of our skills and resources and adopt tried and tested practices that can help us to fully promote Mindanao and for us to become better bloggers as well,” emphasized Chiq Montes, president of CDO Bloggers.

“Of course, we also want all of the participants to have a good time and experience the sights and sounds of Cagayan de Oro,” Montes added.

Montes said that apart from Mindanaoan bloggers, the summit will also see the participation of some bloggers from Luzon and Visayas.

Expected to grace the summit is United States Embassy’s new Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett, Atty. Adel Tamano, Agusan Lone District Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula.

Considered unprecedented in the Philippine blogosphere, a top ranking United States Embassy dignitary is set to deliver the keynote address. Bassett’s trip to CDO will be her first trip to Mindanao since assuming office in June. She previously served as DCM in Mexico.

“We are deeply honored. We’re certain that the summit participants will be delighted to meet her and we can’t wait for her to see our beautiful city,” Montes said.

Other speakers during the whole-day affair include Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula, Agusan Lone District Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Atty. Adel Tamano.

Google’s Philippine representative Aileen Apolo, whose talk will focus on beginners, Digital Filipino’s Janette Toral, who will discuss blog advertising and Lyle Santos, who will talk about making money online will also be present. Representatives of other blogger groups including those in Davao City, General Santos City and Zamboanga will also give updates.

After the summit proper, participants have the choice of joining either the city tour (Xavier University Museum, Cathedral, Divine Mercy Shrine, Opol Aviary, Limketkai Mall) or the whitewater rafting adventure.

Also happening on October 24, right after the MBS 3, is the Philippine Blog Awards – Mindanao awarding ceremonies.

An early Saturday morning sky while on our way to the  Cagayan de Oro City airport.  We have to stop at the gasoline station for filling so that on our way back there will no more be any stop over.

More skies from around the world if you click on that badge above the photo.

Wish Came True?

I dunno if you have read me here last Christmas that i’ve been wishing na sana mag winter sa Pinas.   Oh yea i wished that Philippines have a winter season too and snow.  The weather now is almost like winter just minus the snow.  Imagine Baguio now records a 4 degrees C temperature.  That’s colder than the normal post winter or spring temperature.   This  week i’ve been wearing my spring jackets to school. hehehe.  Feel na feel ko talaga.

While some of us are enjoying the cold weather with just the rain and wet roads, there are also those who are suffering because of the cold.  Actually extreme cold because they lost their homes in the strong winds and deep water.  I head on TV tonight that Misamis Oriental including Cagayan de Oro are declaired as “Under Calamity.”  Maybe some wishes that Iligan would be declared because they can apply for a calamity loan but for me am happy that Iligan is not one of the declared under calamity places because it means there is not much damage.

Oh well, am so excited to say am enjoying the cold weather.  I wish to sleep late every morning. hehehe  So, wish come true for me!

Tuesday

I went to cdo for an official errand.  We left mid morning already so we reached our destination almost noontime.  OUr first stop was at Capitol University to submit the enrolment forms of doctoral students.  The good thing was, the Graduate School has moved to it’s new location – the 5th floor of their newest building.  I started from the groundfloor poised but when i reached half way more to the 5th floor i was already wapoised. hahahaha.  We finished our transaction there almost 12 noon because we waited for the Dean to come back.

We had lunch at Jo’s Inato and the food bring me back memories of Bacolod City because it’s there where i experienced my first Buko Halohalo.   After lunch we went to NMC and since the offices were still close we proceed to the place where Sir Pacardo has to purchase a machine pump for the Hemo department.  To find the place took us some time because it was located inside the Grand Europa, just a stone away from the airport.

I took some photos along the way but it will be uploaded tomorrow yet.  From the Frontiera Subd. we went to SPUC as majority of us got a transaction there.  We left the compound almost 4 pm.  We still drop by several places and the last stop was at Macro as i was hoping we can purchase a ready-to-install blinds but they have no stock at the moment.

ON our way to Iligan, it took us earlier than the usual private vehicle speed because we were tailing a Congressman’s vehicle (a Hilux) with a police bodyguard ahead.  I think we were running a 100-120.  Rain caught us before we reached the vicinity of the Iligan but it was not a big pour bt can still wet enough the road and anyone who does not have an umbrella.

We arrived the school campus a lil bit past six with a moderate pour though.

Just ARrived…

from Cagayan de Oro City.  When i left the office for home this afternoon I did not know that i would be going to CDO.  I even forgot that there was a little banquet after their capping/badging program.  Or i never thought about it too because i was not able to witness the program at Tibanga church.  I heard Mam She asking anyone on who would like to accompany her to CDO.  At first i was thinking hmmm me but i didn’t show my interest not until i finished eating.  I just called up mom that i will be home late because am going with the group to CDO.

Anway, we left Iligan a bit past 7 pm to go with the group that sent back our Capping/Badging Ceremony speaker, Dr. D. Roque of NMMC.  We brought her safely to her home and before proceeding back to Iligan, we passed by Mc Do Limkit Kai to use their comfort room and at least stretch our legs for awhile while enjoying the short time with coffee/orange juice and i had a big pack of french fries.  I just arrived home few minutes back.  OUr trip back was quicker than going.  We made it to Iligan in exactly an hour. wow!  Well, i enjoyed the trip, am a bit tired but am feeling great!
