WS – Sunsets

It’s been awhile since my last shoot on a sea sunset. So i feel so lucky when we were stuck at the Ozamis port for almost 2 hours while waiting for our vehicle to board the barge.

I was able to take one when the sun was still going down, then an hour later when orange streaks painted the sky (it was already early evening)

It was nice to witness the sunsets again.  I hope everyone had a fun filled weekend.

SWF # 4 – Let there Be Light!

I’d like to think that this was on creation day and when God said, let there be light, and so light came. Well, this is a sunset i took last March 29, during my brother’s graduation in college. We travelled to Ozamis city that day. It was late when we went home. While waiting for the barge to leave, i took the chance to take photo of the sky and the kids who were with us. Even before we went up the barge, it was already a photo session with my parents and cousins and sis inlaw and the kids. We had many good remembrance on that trip and enjoying the sunset as well as taking sky photos is one of them.

More sky watch at Tom’s.

To Buy or Not to Buy

We left Valencia City at exactly 4 pm last Saturday. With an 80-100 kph speed, Cagayan de Oro will be reached after more than two hours. The weather was bad with dark clouds as we hurried out of Valencia but along the way, big rains still caught us. So further down Malaybalay the sky was already dark. We passed by a store that sells soft brooms. Time was not a concern – my companions bought several for themselves. I was tempted too thinking that our softbrooms at home looks so used-up already. After paying, off we went. All of us in the van were looking forward to buy fruits along the way (somewhere in Sumilao) just before you reach Manolo Fortich. But lo and behold, we were nearing the place and the sky was so clear and obviously the sun was still up. Time then was discussed. The speed slowed down. Teh driver was thinking that he would drive very slow that we may reach that Sumilao part at 6:30 – but it was sooo impossible. It was still 5:30, the sun was still up and of course we still cannot buy. We had a good laugh about it.

So the question to buy or not to buy played in our minds. One even suggested that only 1 person should buy while the others pray for that person. I then realized how important for each of us to really keep the Sabbath inspite we were on a travel. For me, buying food on Sabbath especially not intentionally done is ok. Not intentionally means “not planned” or one has to buy food because thereis no food to eat. But whatever —

We bought 3 packs of sweet corn (malagkit type). 3 bags for a hundred. Cooked already and everyone had a share. The time or the sun was not being talked about anymore. The moment we started munching on our cobbed corn, we were so silent. After eating we laugh again. hahaha

Yeah, the sun has not yet set but we picked some cooked sweet corn. But we missed buying this because of the time — that only cost 20 pesos daw (per whole bunch) so tempting but we shun temptation. LOL!

Why REddish Orange?

Rhoen dropped this as an offline this morning:

“Why does the setting sun look reddish orange? When the sun is on the horizon, its light takes a longer path through the atmosphere to reach your eyes than when the sun is directly overhead. By the time the light of the setting sun reaches your eyes, most of the blue light has been scattered out. The light you finally see is reddish orange, the colour of white light minus blue.”

After reading, it reminds me of the orange/red sunset i took weeks ago.

so that’s it!  Thanks wheng!
